Weekend Weather: Slow Moving Storm will dump lots of rain Friday, Shabbos

Just when we thought we saw the beginning of beautiful spring weather, a storm rolls in, bringing much rain and wind over the weekend.

The storm we are getting is called a “cutoff low,” which means there’s no system driving or pushing it—so it moves extremely slowly.

In most cases there’s either the subtropical jetstream or a polar jetstream which will drive the storm away.

So this storm will move extremely slowly, eastward, across our area. It will sit here for about two or three days. We will begin to see the back of it on Sunday morning, as the storm slowly moves away, after having dumped about three inches of rain in total.

We expect heavy winds, up to 50 MPH.

Tempuratures, meanwhile, will remain in the mid-50’s throughout this storm.
