Wide Reaching Spam Attack Included Many Victims in Community

A wide-ranging, sophisticated spam attack is hopefully behind us, but throughout the last few days, reports were heard everywhere of people receiving email and text messages urging them to download files which would wreak havoc on their digital devices.
Spamming is a method by which hackers gain access to a victim’s computer or device once they have tricked them into allowing them in.
One email, of thousands, read the following: “Is the attached Purchase Order confirmed? … Thanks. Archive the attached email: Form-Mar 30,2022.zip. Password:…”
Downloading the file would severely damage a computer, and worse, give hackers access to sensitive information stored on them.
CNET reported: “if you’re a Verizon customer who's been getting mysterious spam text messages from your own phone number, you’re not alone. Multiple Verizon customers have reported receiving similar messages this week, in which they’re encouraged to click an obscure link to receive a gift. The carrier says it’s working with police to stop the texts.”
