Air Quality Alert In Effect Today Across New York Due To High Pollution Levels
By Y.M. Lowy
An Air Quality Health Advisory is in effect today across parts of New York due to expected high ozone pollution levels in the air.
The advisory, issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, remains in effect from 11:00 a.m. through 11:00 p.m.
Ozone pollution forms during hot and sunny weather when emissions from vehicles and other sources react in the air.
People with asthma, heart problems, breathing conditions, young children, and older adults may be more affected by the poor air quality.
Residents who are sensitive to air pollution are advised to limit strenuous outdoor activity today, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
