YS GOLD

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Feigy Koenig, the last living grandchild of the Arugas Habosem and a longtime Boro Park resident. She was approximately 97 years of age.

The nifteres was the daughter of Rav Yekusiel Yehuda Greenwald, the rov of the town of Yora, in the Carpathian Mountains.

She endured the war years in an orphanage in Budapest. When she heard that the Belzer Rov was in town, she went to see him and recieve a blessing from the Rebbe. She attributed this bracha for her survival. She survived the war along with seven of her siblings.

She married Reb Shmuel Koenig, a talmid chochom and upstanding balebos who served as the ba'al korei in the Sorvosher Shul in Williamsburg for many years. the family moved to Boro Park in the 1960's where she remained for the rest of her long life. She retained a close relationship with her uncle, the Tzelimer Rov throughout her years. The Rov was concerned about the chinuch of her children in Boro Park of those days. When she related that she would be sending her boys to Yeshiva Be'er Shmuel, the Rov made calls and ascertained that the Unsdorfer Rov's yeshiva was indeed a fitting mossad for chinuch.

The nifteres never forgot her illustrious heritage, and proudly carried the torch of her illustrious ancestors for her entire life, passing it on to her beautiful generations.

The levaya will take place at Shomrei Hadas at 1:00 this afternoon (to watch live click here), and kevruah will be at the Zhelimer section of the cemetery.

Yehi zichra baruch.
