BDE: Mrs. Golda Engel, a”h, 104
YS Gold
We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Engel, a Holocaust survivor who lived in the Boro Park community for many decades. She was 104 years of age, and had the zechus to dedicate a Beis Medrash in the center of the neighborhood.
The nifteres was born in Beregsacz, Hungary, the daughter of R’ Aveohom Yehuda Hoffman.
Following the war, she married, Reb Naftoli Engel. Sadly, they did not merit children of their own and lived an upstanding Torah life in a quiet manner.
A number of years ago, Mrs. Engel generously donated a large sum of money towards the Belzer shtiebel on 45th street in the name of her departed husband, Reb Naftuli, z”l.
As she leaves this world, it is with the immense zechusim of Torah and tefillah that reverberate within the walls of the shul, and will continue to stand her in good stead in Shomayim.
People close to Mrs. Engel request from the public to learn Mishnayos l’iluy nishmas Golda bas Avrohom Yehuda.
The levaya will take place at the Belzer Shtiebel, which carries her name, 1260 45th Street, at 11:00 this morning.
Yehi zichra baruch.
