BDE: Rav Mottel Katz, zt”l

We are saddened to inform you of the petirah of Rav Mordechai Avrum Katz, zt”l, longtime rov of Avreichei Torah Vodaas, and a marbitz Torah for more than half a century. 

The niftar was the son of Rav Aaron Aryeh Katz who was a rov in Khal Beis Aron in Flatbush, and he gave shiurim there for many years. His mother was the daughter of Rav Elozor Twersky, the Faltishaner Rebbe of Boro Park. 

Rav Katz was known for his nobility and his chessed, in addition to his being a great talmid chochom and marbitz Torah. He was also known as a special ba’al tefillah, ba’al tokei’ah, and was always an address for people to unburden themselves and walk away with a lighter heart. 

The rov experienced many health challenges in recent years, and but he never complained and was always b’simcha. 

The Levaya will take place in Khal Avreichei Torah Vodaas on 53rd Street and 16th Avenue at 1:00 this afternoon.
