BDE: Reb Yitzchok Zev HaKohen ("Itche") Rosengarten, z"l, 100
YS GOLD
We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Itche Rosengarten, an esteemed Bobover Chossid who was known for his Torah and yiras Shomayim. He was 100 years of age and leaves behind beautiful Torah generations.
The niftar was the son of Reb Mendel Rosengarten, an esteemed Bobover chossid from a prominent family in Galicia. The Rosengartens came to Toronto before the war, and they were thus spared the horrors of the Holocaust.
They soon immigrated to America where the Rosengarten children stood out for their ehrlichkeit and uncompromising Yiddishkeit.
Reb Itche married Mrs. Dinah (nee Goldstein) the daughter of the legendary Reb Moshe Yehuda Goldstein of Boro Park, and the couple settled in Boro Park for the many ensuing decades, raising their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren in the ways of Torah and yiras Shomayim through their sterling example. Mrs. Rosengarten was a legendary morah in Beis Yaakov for decades.
Although he was a Bobover chossid, Reb Itche served as the longtime ba'al tefillah during the Yamim Noraim in Khal Emunas Yisrael. There, he moved and inspired the mispalelim with his sweet voice and heartfelt tefillos.
In addition to his sterling personal legacy, Reb Itche leaves behind beautiful generations, with many Rabbonim and marbitzei Torah among them.
His neshamah ascended to the World of Truth on Monday afternoon, and the levaya will take place at Shomrei Hadas at 6:00 this afternoon.
