BDE: Reb Yosef Yitzchok Konig, z”l
YS GOLD
We regret to inform you about the passing of Reb Yosef Yitzchok Konig, a longtime Boro Park resident, an ardent Pupa chossid and a great yerei Shomayim. He was 94 years of age.
The niftar hailed from Hungary where he was a Talmid of Rav Yaakov Lebovitz, known as the Hodhazer Rov, and later the Viener Rov.
But his heart became tethered to the Vayechi Yosef of Pupa when he learned under him in Antwerp, and he remained close to his son and grandson until his passing.
He also had a deep connection with the Admorim of Skulen, and came to Skulen on many occasions.
He davened for decades in the Pupa Boro Park shul on 53rd street, and he raised a beautiful family of ehrlich and upstanding Torah Yidden.
An acquaintance relates that among the many aspects of his ehrlichkeit, the niftar placed a great emphasis on the purity of his mouth, taking extraordinary care on everything he took into his mouth and spoke out of his mouth.
Reb Yosef Yitzchok returned his soul to its Maker on Sunday. The levaya will take place this evening at 9:00 at the Pupa BP Beis Medrash on 53rd Street.
Yehi zichro baruch.
