In releasing its yearly Brooklyn Power 100 list, naming those considered powerful in the Borough of Brooklyn, City & State included some familiar names, and some new ones.
Most notably on the list is Boro Park’s representatives in Albany and NYC, State Senator Simcha Felder, Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein and Councilman Kalman Yeger.
Assemblyman Eichenstein is praised for being a “key representative of Brooklyn’s Hasidic community” among other features.
Also on the list is Rabbi Joel Rosenfeld of Bobov, who “has gotten to know more political hopefuls now that Borough Park’s Hasidic population has become a significant voting bloc,” City & State notes.
“Democrat Andrew Yang courted Bobovers in 2021, Democrat Dan Goldman got their endorsement for his congressional primary a year later and so did Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin – and they all pledged to support yeshivas. Rosenfeld has also sought to combat the rise in anti-Jewish attacks and also met with President Joe Biden’s envoy to fight antisemitism in January.”
MET Council’s David Greenfield, Rabbi David Niderman from Satmar’s UJO and Eli Cohen, Executive Director of Crown Heights Jewish Community Council also join the list for their respective accomplishments.
