Construction of McKinley Park Near Boro Park
By Y.M. Lowy
Construction is moving forward at McKinley Park, located along Bay Ridge Parkway between 7th Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway.
The project began with the design phase in May 2022, which was completed on schedule by August 2023. After that, the city worked on gathering all the needed materials and services. That step started in August 2023 and, though it was supposed to finish by August 2024, it was completed later in January 2025.
With preparations now complete, construction is expected to be finished by March 2026. The total cost of the project is $5 million, funded by the City Council.
Earlier today, BoroPark24 reported that a gas main was accidentally struck during the ongoing work, though no injuries were reported. Despite the hiccup, work on the park continues, with plans to deliver a more welcoming and improved space for the community.
