Entire Block Ticketed in Alternate-Side Parking Error

Entire Block Ticketed in Alternate-Side Parking Error

By Y.M. Lowy

Drivers along 12th Avenue between 44th and 45th Streets were hit with a wave of parking tickets on Wednesday in a clear enforcement error that affected nearly every car on the block.

Ticketing officers went down the block issuing summonses to all vehicles yesterday, citing alternate side parking violations for Wednesday. The issue is that this side of the block is clearly marked for alternate side parking on Mondays, not Wednesdays. The signage is posted on the street and can also be confirmed through Google Maps.

Cars were parked legally, yet tickets were issued across the board, leaving the entire block lined with orange envelopes in a matter of minutes.

As a result, residents are now forced to contest tickets that should never have been written, costing time and effort despite clear signs supporting the drivers.

BoroPark24 urges anyone who received a ticket on this block to carefully check which side of the street they were parked on and to photograph the posted signs showing the correct alternate side parking day. Clear photos of the signage may be critical when fighting these tickets.
