Governor Kathy Hochul visited Boro Park on Wednesday, meeting with administrators of local Heimishe mosdos before touring Boro Park Hatzalah headquarters, as she continues engaging with the community ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The visit began with a gathering of representatives and administrators from all heimshe mosdos. Seated at the head table alongside the governor were Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein and State Senator Sam Sutton, as community leaders discussed several important issues affecting local families and schools.

Rabbi Mordechai Rosen, who emceed the gathering, thanked the governor for her close working relationship with the community, particularly on the substantial equivalency issue involving yeshiva education, vouchers, as well as other matters affecting local mosdos..

Before introducing Assemblyman Eichenstein, Rabbi Rosen recalled knowing him as a young boy and seeing his dedication to helping others from an early age. Assemblyman Eichenstein then addressed the gathering, highlighting the governor’s work with the community on several issues, including efforts to combat antisemitism and provide increased security for Jewish institutions.

State Senator Sam Sutton addressed the crowd as well, highlighting the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between the community and state government and continuing to work together on issues that matter most to local families and mosdos.

Governor Hochul then addressed the administrators, speaking about the importance of education and the role of private schools. She also shared that she herself attended a private school. Following her remarks, the governor went around the room, personally meeting with the administrators and speaking with them individually.

Following the gathering, Governor Hochul visited Boro Park Hatzolah headquarters, where she was given an opportunity to see the organization’s operations up close and learn more about its emergency response work in the community.

The visit follows Governor Hochul’s stops in Kiryas Joel, Monsey, and New Square earlier this week, highlighting her ongoing relationship with Heimishe communities across New York State.
