Klal Yisroel Awaits Final Verdict In Yeshivah Education Legal Battle
All of Klal Yisrael is anxiously awaiting the outcome of the long-standing legal battle that PEARLS has been leading against the New York State Education Department. This Wednesday, the case will enter its final phase and will be heard before a panel of seven judges in the highest court of New York State.
The current case will primarily focus on two main arguments put forth by PEARLS. The first is that the legal requirement to provide a proper education does not necessitate that it be delivered in one building or institution, but rather that it can be fulfilled through separate venues. The second argument is that the State Education Department does not have the legal authority to invalidate or shut down an institution, nor to impose any penalties on parents or institutions if a mosed does not fully comply with the law.
This momentous day has been designated as a yom tefillah and children will daven in their yeshivos and chedarim that the verdict should be positive to ensure the continuation of our chinuch.
