Last winter, a fire ripped through the building on 50th Street just off of Thirteenth Avenue, causing considerable damage to the structure, as well as neighboring establishments.

“Our store, which has stood at this iconic corner for two decades, took a blunt hit,” recalls one Oh Nuts manager. Not from the fire itself, but rather from the smoke. “Food is just about the most sensitive commodity to smoke that there is,” she said, “and all of our stock was rendered unusable.”

The store has remained closed since that time, but this fall, Oh Nuts is preparing to roll out a shop that has been completely redesigned from top to bottom. “Guided by Devoiry Friedman Design, the store will feature two levels designed to provide the most magical customer service experience for scores of its Boro Park customers,” said one Oh Nuts employee with knowledge of the ongoing remodeling.

“Our in-house gift designer will have a completely new space on the lower level, and we are set to offer even more products than ever before—while maintaining a clean, modern feel throughout the shop,” she said.

The establishment plans to formally reopen immediately following the Yomim Tovim, bringing in the winter on the sweetest possible footing.
