Boro Park Business Breakfast Hosted by BPJCC Aims to Strengthen Local Small Business

Tuesday morning, the BPJCC hosted a breakfast for Boro Park businesspeople, bringing together proprietors and professionals to share and exchange information that will help secure gains and take businesses to the next level.

“Our focus was on local businesses, the mom-and-pop-shops,” said Avi Greenstein, CEO of the Boro Park Jewish Community Council. “They are at the forefront of hiring more local people who will be able to support their own families, helping to grow our local economy as a whole, something that has not properly been focused on,” he said.

A side aspect of today’s event was that it takes place on a day in which our community is on the receiving end of an unprecedented onslaught, denigrated and slandered by the media, and plotted against by the government.

The incredible success of our community in business, and in lending a hand to others, was on full display at the breakfast, and was alluded to by a number of the speakers. NYC Councilman Kalmen Yeger noted how billions of dollars flow through our local business on an annual basis—a prime example of our community supporting each other.

Chaim Goldmunzer, CPA, the CEO of Goldmunzer & Company, mentioned the fact that he is a proud Yeshiva graduate, and has gone on to found a large company with many employees. Given his unique vantage point as an accountant for many large companies, he sees a similar trend in scores of businesses throughout our community. Nesanel Gantz hosted a panel in which he interviewed three local business owners. He also took a moment to note that he learned in Bobover Yeshiva, and today writes “Lunch Break” one of Ami Magazine’s most popular weekly columns.

The event served as a launchpad for the Boro Park Business Alliance, and honored Kevin Kim, SBS Commissioner, who has pledged its support to this organization and to the many great initiatives that it intends to bring to Boro Park, its businesses, and its residents.

“We are very grateful to our sponsors,” Greenstein concluded. “Metropolitan Commercial Bank, Boro Park 24, Atlantic Stone, Luach Hatzibur, Brand’s Paycheck & HR Services, and JointTechs all played a critical role in the tremendous success of the morning.”
