Milling Machine Catches Fire on Ditmas Avenue
By Y.M. Lowy
A milling machine burst into flames on Ditmas Avenue, between Dahill and McDonald, after reportedly malfunctioning during routine street work.
The machine, which had been grinding and prepping pavement as part of ongoing work in the area, suddenly caught fire while crews were operating it. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
FDNY responded and quickly brought the fire under control. Later, the burned machine was towed away, drawing a small crowd of curious Boro Park residents who stopped to watch as it was hauled off.
The equipment is believed to have been overworked in recent weeks, following a stretch of heavy milling and paving throughout Boro Park.
