No Cause for Alarm: Natural Gas Odor on 20th Ave Due to Scheduled Maintenance
By Y.M. Lowy
If you’re around 20th Avenue between 53rd and 57th Streets in Brooklyn today and catch a whiff of natural gas, there’s no need to panic.
Until 8 p.m. today, National Grid crews will be working in the area, and the odor is expected as part of scheduled maintenance. While the smell might be strong at times, it’s part of the process and not a cause for concern.
Officials have already notified residents in advance and assure the community that everything is under control. Emergency services are aware of the work, and there is no danger to the public.
