New Utrecht Subway Tracks Repairs to Go On Till 2028
By Y.M. Lowy
Construction is ongoing at the New Utrecht Avenue train station in Brooklyn as part of a major long-term repair project on the D line’s elevated structure. The work, which includes repairing corroded steel columns and reinforcing the base of the structure, will keep the line in good condition for the next 30 years.
As first reported on BoroPark24, signs posted at the site reveal that the project is scheduled to continue through 2028. One local reader shared photos of the signs, which indicate that sidewalk closures and no-parking zones will remain in place for years to come.
The current phase of construction, expected to wrap up by the end of this summer, includes lead paint removal, steel repairs, concrete base replacements, and sidewalk restoration. For now, D train service is not expected to be affected.
Future phases will include painting and additional steel work, which may impact street parking in stages as the project progresses.
