NYC Ferry Proposes New Routes Connecting Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Manhattan
By Y.M. Lowy
NYC Ferry plans to update its route map with new routes, including a link between Staten Island and Brooklyn and an extension of the South Brooklyn service to Manhattan.
The city’s Economic Development Corporation, which manages the ferry network, will announce the proposed routes soon and open a period for public feedback. Riders are encouraged to share their opinions through a survey that covers the new routes, their current experiences, and other related topics. This marks the first major review of ferry routes since the system launched in 2017.
No changes are expected to take effect until winter. Other updates include splitting the East River route into two separate lines, combining the Soundview and Rockaway routes, and adding a direct ride from South Brooklyn to Midtown.
