Ohel HaRashbi: Hosting Rabbi Shimon’s Guests in Meron, Drawing Down the Yeshu’os of the Day

For decades, visitors to Rabbi Shimon in Meron have been hosted by the empire of chessed known as Ohel HaRashbi, essentially run by one man who is consumed with chessed: Reb Shraga Schnitzer, shlit”a, who sees it as his life’s mission to care for Rabbi Shimon’s visitors all year round. 

On Lag BaOmer, just like every single day in the year, while the village of Meron pulses with the fire and fervor of the day—with Yidden rejoicing in the exalted day, and davening from the depths of their heart for the yeshu’os that only Rabbi Shimon can effect—Reb Shraga bustles to and from, ensuring that the tens of thousands of visitors have a warm, satisfying meal which will enable them to continue with the avodah of the day. 

This is Reb Shraga’s avodah every single day in Meron—feeding tens of thousands of his fellow Yidden. 

On Lag BaOmer of this year, he will be there once again, attending to Rabbi Shimon’s guests with a smile and great devotion—bringing down tremendous yeshu’os in the zechus of the Tanna haEloki. 

The costs of this undertaking are exorbitant, and Reb Shraga cannot do it without us. By partnering with him in his holy endeavor, we too can have a part in hosting Rabbi Shimon’s guests, and surely meriting great yeshu’os on this exalted day.
