Parler Back Up and Running with New Servers and New CEO

Although Parler, the conservative social media platform was silenced last month by big-tech censorship, today, interim CEO Mark Meckler said that the app is resuming operations under new leadership and with new computer servers.

Although Parler has been offline since Jan. 11, when Amazon Web Services shut off the social media platform, today Parler’s 20 million users can once again log in to the app using all of their old information.

“We are off of the big tech platform, so that we can consider ourselves safe and secure for the future,” said Meckler, who added the platform will remain true to its “free speech, no censorship roots,” it also using both artificial intelligence and human editors to police for illegal speech that violates its service agreement.

Some users of Parler who were previously signed up were back on the site this morning, while the rest of Parler’s users should have access by midday, as the new servers spread across the internet. New users should be able to sign up for the service within a week or so, said Meckler, who was appointed interim CEO to help guide Parler through its relaunch and its search for a new, permanent chief executive.

Meckler replaced former Parler CEO John Matze, who has said that he received a written warning that he violated the terms of his confidentiality agreement by making disparaging statements and disclosing inside information to the media that could have “serious and material adverse effects on the business or reputation of the company.”

Matze denied Parler’s claim in an interview with USA TODAY.

“That’s not the vision I had for the company,” said Matze, who said that Parler terminated him without severance and was stripping him of his equity in the company. “These people just want to censor me. Obviously, my statement about their vision not aligning with mine must be true considering they are trying to stop me from speaking my mind.”
