President Biden Intensifies Efforts to Vaccinate Country and World, Also Calls on Cuomo to Resign

President Joe Biden said today that the US is doing everything it can to vaccinate everyone: not only in the country, but in the world.

“We have a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” said President Biden, who pointed out the “clear link between the lowest vaccinated states and the states with the highest COVID case rates, said that “the states with the lowest vaccination rates are seeing 10 to 20 times” as many cases as those states that have high vaccination rates.

“COVID is spreading like wildfire through unvaccinated community,” said Biden, who pointed out that 30% of Americans are still unvaccinated, but easily could be. “And it is heartbreaking: particularly because it is preventable.”

One piece of good news, the president said, was that his call on states to offer $100 to anyone to get vaccinated has created the “real results” of a 25% uptick in daily vaccination rates.

“We have seen encouraging signs, but we have to continue our aggressive effort to vaccinate the unvaccinated,” the president.

Other steps Biden has taken to promote vaccination was his announcement that small and medium-sized businesses will be fully reimbursed for offering paid time off for their employees and their employees’ parents and children to get vaccinated.

In addition, the president now requires all federal workers and federal contractors to be vaccinated or be required to mask at work, provide two COVID tests a week, socially distance, and not be allowed to travel for work.

Other measures Biden has taken to increase vaccination rates was to direct the Pentagon to include COVID-19 vaccination to the list of shots that are required for US troops. In addition, Biden approved the Department of Veterans’ Affairs requirement for doctors and nurses who care for US veterans to be vaccinated.

According to the president, many large businesses, such as Fox, Walmart, Google, Disney, and Tyson food, have followed the leads of the federal and state governments, by requiring vaccinations for their employees.

Not only does the US have a vaccine available for every American who wants one, but he said that the US has contributed more vaccines than any other nation to COVAX, the collective global effort to deliver COVID vaccines across the world.

“As of today, the US has shipped more than 110 million doses to 65 countries that were among the hardest-hit.”

“In times of trouble, Americans reach out to give a helping hand; that is what we do and who we are,” Biden said.

When a reporter asked Biden whether he stuck to his comment, months ago that Gov. Andrew Cuomo should resign if evidence was found to prove the many allegations of harassment against him, the president affirmed that yes, Gov. Cuomo should resign.
