A New York City Department of Sanitation truck driver has been arrested and charged following a fatal accident last week on Bay Parkway that claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman.

As previously reported by BoroPark24, the fatal accident occurred Wednesday evening, October 28, at approximately 6:35 p.m., when Siobhan Lynch, 30, was crossing Bay Parkway at Cropsey Avenue.

According to police, the sanitation truck was traveling eastbound before making a right turn onto Bay Parkway, striking Lynch as she crossed the roadway.

Lynch suffered severe injuries and was transported by emergency personnel to NYU Langone Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Timothy A. Mcvey of Staten Island, remained at the scene following the accident, and no arrest was made at the time as the NYPD continued investigating. However, on Wednesday, November 4, the DSNY worker was arrested by the NYPD and charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.

The Department of Sanitation previously described the incident as a terrible tragedy, expressed condolences to the victim’s family, and said it was cooperating with the police investigation.
