An astounding $3,000,0000 donation from Satmar philanthropist Lipa Friedman closed the deal on a gigantic property on the edge of Boro Park to serve as the home of the future Talmud Torah of Satmar, bringing a feeling of joy to the Boro Park Satmar Kehillah and to the Satmar kehillah at large.
Askonim have disclosed that the lot itself--which is situated on Bay Parkway, between 59th Street and 60th Street--cost $13 million, and the entire Talmud Torah project is estimated at $40 million. This brings the total spending of the kehillah on new buildings in Boro Park in recent years to an astounding $140,000,000!
When completed, the building will stand at 120,000 square feet serving thousands of children from the Satmar kehillah. It will entail 100 beautiful classrooms, batei midrash, and dining rooms, and many more resources all to serve the children and their mechanchim in a manner that befits a mosad haTorah.
