Shomrim in Boro Park and Williamsburg Collaborate to Stop NYC Crime Ring

This afternoon, members of Boro Park Shomrim apprehended suspects, bringing to an end a crime wave which robbed innocent victims of their cash and valuables.
They were tipped off by Williamsburg members who became aware of the scam in which perpetrators waited outside check cashing establishments, and followed them in order to ultimately rob them of their cash. Williamsburg Shomrim shared the license plate details of the perpetrator’s vehicle with members from other neighborhoods.
An alert Boro Park member of Shomrim spotted the vehicle in the neighborhood, and notified his colleagues to keep an eye out for its movements. They also noticed a biker wearing a ski mask (in 95-degree weather) driving close to the vehicle.
When a victim emerged from a check cashing establishment, they followed him, and slashed his tire.
When the driver emerged from the vehicle, the second perp opened the car and robbed the cash.
One block later, he placed his bike into the getaway vehicle, but Shomrim soon apprehended both the driver and the biker, and they were arrested by the NYPD shortly thereafter. Shomrim also waited with the victim until Chaveirim arrived to change his deflated tire.
According to reports, these perpetrators were committing similar crimes throughout the five boroughs, but as of this afternoon, they are no longer a threat to residents of NYC.
