Truck Driver Charged in Hit and Run of NYPD Officer

A Manhattan man has been charged in the hit and run that killed an off duty police officer on the BQE last week.

Carlos Toribio, 30, was arrested and faces charges for leaving the scene of a fatal crash, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without a license plate.

As reported on BoroPark24, the officer was riding his motorcycle near Exit 27 on the morning of August 27 when he hit Toribio’s truck. The officer was thrown from his bike, which caught fire, and paramedics declared him dead at the scene. Video shows the truck leaving the area, possibly without the driver realizing the crash had happened.
