Two Years Since Off-Duty 66th Precinct Officer Killed During Armed Robbery

This past Friday, February 7th, marked two years since an off-duty officer from the 66th precinct died after being shot during a robbery. 

The 26-year-old officer, Adeed Fayaz, went with his brother-in-law to check out a Honda Pilot that had been listed on Facebook Marketplace. When they arrived at the meeting spot they were ambushed by an armed robber and Fayaz was shot in the head. His brother-in-law took his gun and shot back at the offender, who fled the scene. 

Fayaz was taken to Brookdale Hospital and succumbed to his injuries three days later. The suspect was arrested later that night and taken away with the handcuff’s that had belonged to Fayaz.
