BDE: Mrs. Malka Fuchs, a”h
By: Boropark24 Staff
We are saddened to inform
you of the passing of Mrs. Fuchs, a”h, a Holocaust survivor who went on to
rebuild beautiful generations. She was 88 years of age.
She was born in Oyvar, Romania, to her father Reb Ephraim
Deutch, who modeled for her a life of mesirus nefesh which she would emulate
for all of her life. Back home, they were close with Rav Meisels, the Oyvaerer
Rov, of Romania and Boro Park. Her brother was Reb
Yekusiel Deutch who was niftar earlier this year, who davened in the beis
medrash of the Oyvarer Rov.
When she was growing up in Romania, her father used to pay
money to the teachers and principals so that his children would not be forced
to mechalel Shabbos in school, and he would bribe the foremen in factories
where he worked, so that he too would be able to keep Shabbos.
Following the war, she married Reb Leizer Fuchs, an ardent
Viznitzer chossid—with whom she built a sterling Torah home. During their years
in Romania, they were both arrested by authorities, and the Skulener Rebbe
zt’l, assisted them in getting out.
Her son-in-law, Reb Mendy Rosenberg of Chessed Shel Emes,
recalls “a woman of incredible middos who gave endlessly.”
The family was an important part of the Viznitzer kehillah
here, and the levaya took place at the beis medrash on 53rd Street,
with kevurah alongside her husband on the Viznitzer Beis Hachaim.
Yeh zichra Baruch.
