In New York City’s ongoing trash-pickup offensive, part of its battle with the rat population in the City, this Monday, Memorial Day, will be the first time in history that trash will be picked up on the holiday.
This comes courtesy of sanitation workers who have voluntarily stepped up to take these shifts.
A message from DSNY says, “For the first time, there will be trash/compost pickup on Monday, May 29, Memorial Day. Some of #NewYorksStrongest volunteered to work their holiday, allowing us to provide the service."
“If Monday is your normal trash/compost day, set out items Sunday night for pickup starting Monday. If Monday is your normal recycling day, set out your items Monday night for collection starting Tuesday.”
