Yesterday, New York was deeply shaken to learn that Omer Maxim Neutra, a 21-year-old from New York, thought to have been captured alive by Hamas, was actually murdered on October 7th and taken into the Gaza Strip.
In response to this loss, flags at state buildings are being flown at half-staff as a symbol of remembrance.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who met with Neutra’s parents in March, also offered condolences to his family. In a post on X, she stated, “Flags at State buildings are flying at half-staff in honor of Omer Neutra, a young New Yorker whose life was horrifically cut short by Hamas on October 7. We join his loved ones in mourning his loss & demanding his body be returned to his family.”
