NY Mobilizes National Guard at Fort Hamilton for Approaching Thunderstorm

Tropical Storm Debby is currently cooking up a storm that will be causing heavy rain as far as New York.
Governor Hochul announced that New York is currently taking steps to prepare for thunderstorms that are expected to hit tonight and last until tomorrow morning, and that will possibly cause flash flooding as well.
As part of the preparations, 80 personnel and 20 vehicles were stationed at the Fort Hamilton army base right outside Boro Park and at JFK airport to be ready if needed. BoroPark24 visited Fort Hamilton, where they didn't want to comment on this, but multiple soldiers were spotted entering.
The DOT and Thruway Authority are preparing equipment to ensure the roads stay safe and to be able to assist drivers. Hundreds of dump trucks, loaders, excavators, aerial trucks, traffic tower platforms, vacuum trucks with sewer jets, bucket trucks, and more equipment are on standby in case of an emergency.
“New York is no stranger to extreme weather and the potential danger of flash flooding,” Governor Hochul said. “My administration is monitoring closely and deploying resources to keep New Yorkers safe, and I encourage everyone to remain vigilant and watch the forecast closely over the next several days.”
