NYPD Reminds Public of E-Commerce Exchange Zones

By Y.M. Lowy
As reported on Monday night, two males were arrested following a gunpoint robbery that occurred during a transaction arranged on an app. The suspects had attempted to purchase an expensive item using counterfeit money, only to be confronted by the victim, who immediately noticed the fake bills. In response, the two perpetrators pulled out a gun and tried to flee the scene.
In light of the incident, the precinct reminded the public of a valuable resource for safe online transactions. “A friendly reminder: the 66th Precinct offers a designated, well-lit, and well-monitored e-commerce exchange zone for your online transactions. Feel free to use this safe space for your exchanges,” they added.
Whether you’re buying or selling, these zones offer peace of mind that your exchange is being watched over by law enforcement, helping to keep neighborhoods safer and protect the public from potential crimes like the one that occurred last night.
