D-Train Among MTA Lines to be Expanded This Summer
YS Gold
Thanks to $35 million allocated for this purpose in New York State’s $229 million budget, the MTA is set to expand twelve subway lines beginning this summer. The D train, which runs through Boro Park, will be among these.
Currently, headway between trains arriving at a station is approximately 10 or 11 minutes. This expansion, beginning in July, will bring that number down to 8 or 9 minutes between trains. The expansion will be rolled out in phases, and the D Train will not be expanded until July of 2024.
Funds will also be used to bring on more crews, including electrical and repair crews. The extra funds will mostly be used to expand service on weekday middays and weekends.
