NYC Public Libraries Reopen on Sundays After Funding Restored
by M.C. Millman
New York City has reopened its public libraries on Sunday after funding was restored in the recent city budget.
Nearly all library branches across the five boroughs were forcibly closed on Sundays since last year after tens of millions of dollars were cut from the budget and rerouted to fund illegal immigrants.
Due to the help of Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, Senator Simcha Felder, and Councilman Kalman Yeger, the Brooklyn Public Library President Linda E. Johnson has been open on Sundays rather than on Shabbos since March 10, 2024, as reported by BoroPark24 here.
The other three library systems in New York City have had $58.3 million in funding diverted back to allow them to remain open all weekend, including Sundays.
