Possible Speed Limit Changes in NYC

Changes might be coming to some NYC streets as laws regarding the regulation of speed limits are about to change. 

Legislation to shift control from the state to the city to set speed limits was introduced as part of the state budget and might get passed. If it does get passed, some city streets might get their speed limit changed to 20 or even 10 mph.

Roads with at least 3 lanes would stay at 25 mph, but most other streets will be lowered to 20 mph, with some select streets lowered to 10 mph.  

This would be a big win for street safety advocates, but drivers might have a different reaction…
