By BoroPark24 Staff
The NY State Police announced that April 1st began a statewide Distracted Driving Enforcement Campaign to raise awareness about distracted driving. Law enforcement throughout NY will be increasing patrols from April 1st through April 8th.
“Distracted driving continues to be a significant contributing factor in serious car crashes,” Steven G James, the Acting Superintendent said. “We urge all drivers to be aware of their surroundings and consciously reduce distractions and behaviors that take their attention from the road. The New York State Police remains vigilant in our efforts to eliminate the senseless tragedies that are caused by distracted driving.”
The police advise to pull over before reading or sending a text, designating a passenger to handle the driver’s texts, or putting the phone out of reach if you can’t resist the temptation.
