Swash “Hires” 135 Boys from Ger Day Camp to Wash their Bus

Swash “Hires” 135 Boys from Ger Day Camp to Wash their Bus

Ger Day Camp’s boys took a break today from swimming, racing, and doing arts and crafts to soap up their school bus and scrub it inside and out.

“The camp called me up a month ago because they said they wanted to schedule a new and unusual activity for the boys,” remembered Yidel Kahn, the owner of Swash.

Swash is a car washing company that comes right to customers’ homes and offices.

“We come down with our truck, which has everything we needed: all the machines, water, soap, vacuums, steamers,” Kahn explained.

To prepare the little ones to soap up, rinse down, vacuum, and steam their bus, counselors first crowned each camper with a special school bus hat to get them excited to “work” for Swash for an hour.

Recently, the 8 to 12-year-old boys from the Pupa Camp on 10th Avenue got to wash their school bus with Swash, and 11th and 12th-grade boys from Boro Park also have had a blast doing the same.

Today, Swash’s bright blue van pulled up to 1374 42nd St. as leibidig music played, and the kids started screaming with excitement, “Swash! Swash!

“They were really happy about it.”

The children recognized Swash’s signature truck, Kahn explained, “because we go around in blue vans in Boro Park a lot, so the kids like to watch us detailing cars in the area.”

The camp’s counselors then explained to their enthusiastic car washers how they would be divided into groups that would wash the bus’s outside and inside, and then the groups would switch.

The boys who wash the bus’s exterior used detergent to lather up the bus until the soap was white and bubbly.

Then, using microfiber towels, the 135 little workers enjoyed scrubbing the dirt off the bus, while a Swash team provided the water for rinsing.

When the kids went inside the bus to clean, they got to pick up garbage and see how the Swash team vacuums and uses the steamer to get any stains, candy, and gum out of upholstery.

“They were extremely happy with their work,” Kahn said with a laugh. “They were screaming, ‘Wow, wow, wow,’ and they wanted to wash the bus again.

Not only were the kids so happy with their fun activity, but they were excited to ride in their sparkling clean bus later in the day.

Before Kahn said goodbye to his team of Ger campers, he gave each boy a coupon of $10 off to give to their tatties.

“Even the counselors enjoyed themselves, and I heard them saying, ‘I should get my car washed by Swash,” remembered Kahn, who pointed out that because everyone loves to drive clean cars, car washes make fun gifts to employees or friends.

“People are always looking for different kinds of gifts,” said Kahn, who added that any camps, groups, or offices that want to rent a Swash team out for the day can call (718) 831-2323.
