As Shabbos Descends, Anticipation and Elevation Throughout Gerer Community

History continues to be made in Ger, as Shabbos arrives, and with it the commencement of the simcha in the Rebbes family.

As previously reported, the Gerer Rebbe has taken the unusual step of bringing the simcha of the wedding of a granddaughter to American shores—enabling American chassidim to participate in the simcha, which has never happened before.

Among the chassidim, the feelings couldn’t be any more heightened—and are utilizing every moment for spiritual growth.

The bachurim of the chassidus will gather at the Gerer Mesivta on 16th Avenue on 5:00 erev Shabbos to prepare for shabbos with the rebbe. They will be addressed by a son of the Rebbe, as well as the Gerer Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Yisroel Moshe Olewski.

Shabbos tefillos and tischen will take place across town, in the Belzer Talmud Torah on 38th Street. Mincha and Kabbolas Shabbos at 7:23, Shacharis at 8:30 (with the customary ‘hafsukah’ for learning in middle), “adorchgein,” where every chosid will have the privilege of going by to greet the Rebbe, at 5:30 on Shabbos afternoon (an event that is expected to take a long time, considering the crowd, ka”h), followed by mincha at 7:15–and the conclusion of a shabbos of history and holiness.
