Assembly Judiciary Committee Investigating Cuomo to Meet Next Week to Discuss Evidence
The New York Assembly’s Judiciary Committee will meet on April 21 to discuss, along with members of the Manhattan law firm Davis, Polk, and Wardwell, the evidence they have gathered as part of their investigation into allegations of misconduct by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Among the committee's inquiries are whether the governor withheld data nursing home deaths to COVID-19, disregarded safety concerns of the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, harassed employees, and prioritized family members for COVID testing.
The Judiciary committee is following up on relevant leads from the more than 100 tips submitted to the hotline so far, Judiciary Committee Chair Charles Lavine said. Also, the committee is working to interviews potential witnesses who have any relevant information about any of the governor’s misconduct allegations that are under investigation.
While many lawmakers who have called on the governor to resign have complained that the investigation is simply buying time for Cuomo, while other lawmakers say that the governor deserves a fair investigation.
Attorney General Letitia James also is investigating the allegations of harassment against the governor, whose office said it would be conducting its own separate investigation, as well.
