Shock and mourning gripped the Belzer chassidus in New York with the news of the sudden passing of R’ Avrum Shia Schapiro, z”l, following a cardiac arrest on Friday night.
The niftar is the son of ybl”ch the Naroler Rebbe, shlit”a, of Brooklyn and Bnei Brak, and was 61 years of age.
The niftar descends from numerous luminaries of the chassidic movement, and was known for his tremendous Chessed.
Reb Avrum Shia was a prominent askan in the community, and involved in multitudes of causes on behalf of his fellow Yidden, as well as his involvement in planning important events in the community.
Acquaintances relate that he was an exceptional person, an exemplary ba’al middos who treated every person with utmost respect.
He was an ardent Belzer chossid, following the lead of his illustrious ancestors, and occupied a prominent place in the chassidus, especially in the Boro Park kehillah.
Shock and sadness descended upon the entire Belzer kehillah, as well as scores of people from the community who knew the niftar, with the news of his passing.
