BDE: R’ Shamai Hartman, z”l

We regret to inform you of the passing of R’ Shamai Hartman, z”l, a longtime Boro Park resident and a Holocaust survivor. He was 99 years of age. 

The niftar was born in Romania, in the year 1924, to his parents, Reb Yisroel Dov and Yenta Hartman. He endured the horrors of the Holocaust, and lived to rebuild from the churban—remaining steadfast in his emunah. 

He settled in Boro Park where he established a beautiful Torah family. 

Reb Shamai was among the prominent mispallelim of Khal Yismach Moshe-Nirbatur, where there was a sizable contingent of Holocaust survivors. 

He was known for his tzedakah and chessed, generously supporting mosdos and yeshivos, as well as assisting many in need.
