BDE: Reb Nosson Nuta Weinberger z”l

Boro Park - We are saddened to inform of the passing of Reb Nosson Nuta Weinberger, a longtime Montreal native who moved in recent years to Boro Park, who was niftar on Monday afternoon. He was 88.

The levayah will take place at 8 p.m. Moday at Shomrei Hadas chapel.

Born in the then-Czechelovakian town of Munkatch in 1932 to Reb Yaakov and Sarah Weinberger, Nosson Nuta merited having the sainted Munchas Eluzar of Munkatch as mohel at his bris. He lost his entire family during the Holocaust and was a teenager alone in the world.

He went to learn in a yeshiva established after the war by Rav Yitzchok Isaac Moskowitz in Rome, and became the chavrusa of Rav Avraham Tzvi Beck, the late Melbourner Rav.

He later moved to Canada to build his life, marrying Toba Alter and built a beautiful family. He supported himself as a bodek in a slaughterhouse, later becoming a manager at a food market.

Rav Nosson Nuta was devoted to the Munkatcher rebbe all his years and would regularly attend the tishen of the Bluzhever rebbe. He would regularly repeat his wartime experiences but remained a happy and cheerful demeanor, not dwelling outwardly on the sordid past.

He was niftar at Maimonides Medical Center.

Kevura will be at the Floral Park cemetery in South Brunswick, New Jersey.

Yehi zichro boruch.
