BDE: Reb Yoel Shlomo Ross, z”l
YS Gold
We are saddened to inform you of the passing of R’ Yoel Ross, a distinguished Kossoner Chossid. He was around 75 years of age.
The niftar was born and bred in the Bronx of yore—back when it was not assured that a child would follow the ways of the Torah.
But Yoel had an instinctive pull to tzaddikim, and he sought out the Kossoner Rebbe of the Bronx, and he remained a lifelong chossid of the Rebbe, and ybl”ch, his sons and successors.
R’ Yoel married and moved to Boro Park, where he opened a butcher shop and operated it together with Reb Mendel Fried for many years.
“His draw to Admorim was lifelong,” recalled an acquaintance. “He was also close to the Rachmastrivka Rebbe and was one of his gabbo’im… he had this purity about him that drew him to tzaddikim.”
Sadly the niftar was unwell in recent years and passed away over Shabbos.
The levaya will take place at 9:30 Sunday morning at the Kossoner Beis Medrash, 1480 44th Street.
Yehi zichro baruch.
