BoroPark24 Comes to the Rescue with DOT Response Solving Residents Shabbos Parking Concerns

The DOT rescheduled road work the department had planned to take care of over Shabbos after being tagged in a tweet from BoroPark24

"39th Street will be paved over Friday and Shabbos," BoroPark24 tweeted about the paving work scheduled for August 9, "bringing some annoyance to the neighbors left without parking over Shabbos."

After the very real problems the Shabbos roadwork would cause residents was brought to their attention, the paving was rescheduled for the following Monday and Tuesday instead.

"I know the DOT does their best to schedule work like this in the summer when Boro Park isn't quite so crowded," Shlomo R., a resident affected by the closure of 39th Street, tells BoroPark24. "Even so, it would have been inconvenient and possibly even impossible to find parking over Shabbos with an entire street closed. We want to thank the DOT for changing the schedule for us and BoroPark24 for bringing the problem to their attention so they could accommodate our needs."

Special thanks for District Leader Pinny Ringel for his help in this matter, reaching out to the DOT and getting them to make this change.
