Businesses Will be Required to Store Trash in Secure Containers as City Steps up Rat War

On the heels of earlier rules aimed at curbing the rat population by providing them with less waste, comes the announcement that two new rules will soon go into effect.
The first rule will require all food-related businesses to store their trash in closed containers, no matter the size of the business. This will affect many businesses in our community, including groceries, restaurants, and takeout stores.
The second rule expands this requirement to any chain store with five locations or more.
“New York City used to be known for our mean streets, but, going forward, we're going to be known for our clean streets,” said Mayor Adams as he rolled out these new rules.
