BoroPark24 Staff

Catskills Hatzalah and the NYC Department of Environmental Protection Police participated in a successful joint exercise yesterday at the Neversink Reservoir.

The collaborative training session featured various scenarios, including an overturned boat with multiple critical victims in the water, allowing both teams to enhance response capabilities and ensure optimal coordination during emergencies.

The day's drills saw the participation and synchronization of efforts between the NYC DEP Police Emergency Services Unit, Aviation Unit, and Marine Patrol Unit, together with Catskills Hatzalah's EMTs, Paramedics, Drone Team, and Search & Rescue Team. The exercises mirrored real-life situations, enabling the teams to practice under the pressure typically associated with such emergencies.

Catskills Hatzalah extended its heartfelt appreciation to the leadership and officers of the NYC DEP Police for creating a realistic training environment and providing invaluable scenarios for the joint exercise. Such collaborative initiatives are vital in elevating the preparedness of both agencies and ensuring prompt and effective responses in times of crisis to safeguard the well-being of residents and visitors alike.
