Culinary Corner: Challa-Tashen
This year, purim carries us straight into Shabbos. Who says we need to leave it behind? Bring the festivities of purim well into Shabbos with these adorable Challa-Tashen! This recipe was published last year, but it was too perfect for this year so we had to print it again!
What you will need:
2 lbs challah dough
Silver foil
Sesame seeds
1 egg
Assorted dips
Directions:
1: Roll out the dough to about a quarter-inch thick and cut out triangles with five inch sides
2: Roll up pieces of silver foil in to tight balls and place one firmly in each triangle. Don’t push down too hard because you do not want to puncture the dough
3: Brush the triangles with a whisked egg and sprinkle on some sesame seeds. Bake for 15-20 minutes
4: Allow for the challah to cool and remove all the silver foil. For a more perfect shape, go in with a knife and cut around the center of the challa-tashen. Fill with dips of your choice and plate
