Dazzling Scam Latest in Series of Creative Efforts to Swindle Unsuspecting Victim

by M.C. Millman

In an unfortunate episode shared with BoroPark24, the victim of an unusual scam shared how he was driving home from work when a guy flagged him down on the ramp to the BQE in Queens.

"He was dressed well," the victim shares, of the individual who was in a car with another man," and had a lot of jewelry on. He told me he was from Dubai and had lost his wallet and all his personal stuff, and he desperately needed money for gas and food."

Then the individual began to take off his jewelry, including his Rolex, putting it on the victim's car to hold for him.

"He said he would pay me back $20,000 next week," the victim continues. "I felt very pressured and overwhelmed, and I couldn't think straight, so I took him to my bank, where he called me from his cell phone, so I could see it was his real number."

The victim then withdrew $800, took a picture of the man and his partner, and gave them the funds.

"As soon as they left, I couldn't believe what I just did. I went straight to a jewelry store. In the meantime, he called me and said I should put away his jewelry in a secure place and he would contact me next week."

The victim then arrived at the jewelry store, where the proprietor immediately told him the jewelry was all fake.

After calling and texting and receiving no answer from the allegedly penniless individuals, it is clear that this scam had netted $800 for the two "citizens of Dubai".

The victim shared the picture of the jewelry he paid $800 for to warn BoroPark24 readers not to be taken in by stories such as the one related here.
