Health Insurers Threaten to Stop Coverage for Care at Mt. Sinai Hospital

The health insurers UnitedHealthcare and Oxford Health Plans say they will end coverage for care at Mount Sinai due to an outlandish hike in healthcare prices.
Emergency care at Mount Sinai hospitals would remain covered, but pre-planned visits would not.
This crisis only affects the hospital itself, not the Mount Sinai network of doctors who are “in-network” with United Healthcare and Oxford.
“As the largest provider of small business health plans in downstate New York, we have a responsibility to ensure the more than 50,000 small businesses we serve in the area can continue to provide their employees with affordable health care benefits,” United Healthcare says on its website.
