“As a police officers we were always there for each other thick or thin sometimes joyous occasions or sometimes tragic occasions. But we are there and you can still stand tall. Don’t forget those of you who were down there at 9/11. We were driving into that site. Don’t forget the people lined up on Westside Highway handing out water, flowers, cookies and notes. Those are the same people marching down the streets of New York and when the occasion arises, they will be back appreciating our services. This is the finest police in the world.”

Mendy Mirocznik, President, COJO, Scott Maurer, CEO and Executive Vice-President, COJO and Ari Weiss, Security Chairman COJO, and Coordinator of Staten Island Shomrim represented COJO at the Luncheon and Walkout.

“My personal interaction and experience with Inspector Thomas Delahanty as the Security Chairman for COJO and Coordinator of the Staten Island Shomrim is only positive. Today we honor a great Police Officer who cares about public safety and your contribution will live on as an example of what caring police officers do” said Ari Weiss, COJO Security Chairman and Coordinator Staten Island.

“Today we honor Inspector Delahanty a dedicated seasoned police officer and we celebrate his 36 years of service to the NYPD. I have had the privilege of knowing the Inspector for about the past 20 years. In all the positions he served in the department he placed the needs of the public above any other considerations. Inspector Delahanty truly tackled such issues such as the Pandemic, demonstrations, riots, 9/11 and the myriad of unprecedented events with valor and heroism and took charge of situations that were not predictable until they arose. Inspector Delahanty did not have a special training manual in how to handle these courses of events. He has a warm caring heart, wise acumen, a keen ear and sharp eye. These leadership qualities with common sense made him what he is an Officers Officer and a true gentleman. Inspector Delahanty today we honor ourselves by celebrating your long and distinguished police career. We will never forget you. Thanking you for your contributions that helped make the NYPD what is today. The greatest department in the world. May you have a long, joyous and healthy retirement. You will always be part of us,” concluded Mendy Mirocznik, President COJO.

Scott Maurer, CEO and Executive Vice-President of COJO, remarked, “What a gentleman and fine police officer. Inspector Thomas Delahanty has only one concern how to get the job of policing done even better and to never be complaisant at your accomplishments. He truly believes that if we raise the bar, we will exceed our expectations and achieve results that will make the difference that is so necessary. As you retire Inspector please know that we respect you and wish you the best in your hard-earned retirement.”
